How to Think Big As An Entrepreneur in Nigeria

entrepreneurship-in-nigeria

Do you want to be a big time entrepreneur in Nigeria? Are you a big thinker? Because most Nigerian entrepreneurs think too small. They chase small rewards, and that’s what they get, small rewards. Donald Trump and many other success gurus talk about the power of “thinking big.”

As you think big, you need to look big and act big. This will help others take you seriously and build your credibility with customers, vendors, and professionals. This is one secret that has helped me to become successful working with top web masters.

But, how can one as an entrepreneur think big in Nigeria? It is very easy; entrepreneurs think outside the box.

Let me ask you a question, if you quit tending to your business, would it run on its own? The likely (and logical) answer is “no”. Sadly, many entrepreneurs in Nigeria go from being chained to their job to being bound and restricted to their business.

If your business cannot run without you – you’ve got to start thinking outside the box! One of the quickest ways to grow your business is to gain leverage. You do that by creating a business that does not solely rely on you.

Take a look at all the successful entrepreneurs in Nigeria, their businesses are running without their 100% input. Is it Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga, Okon Joseph (don’t mention) etc.

Here are 5 possible ways to think big as an entrepreneur in Nigeria and be successful:

  1. Think in Broader Terms

For you to be a big thinker entrepreneur in Nigeria, you need to be thinking in broader terms. You can launch a business that will serve many people, either through automation or more employees, or both.

If you can add more value to your product or service than anyone else, and effectively serve more people than anyone else, wealth and success will follow.

This was what made Aliko Dangote the richest man in Africa. He did not only think about satisfying the Nigeria market, he had the mindset of satisfying Africa as a whole.

  1. Associate with People that think Big

Have you heard that you are the sum total of the 5 closet friends? You must have also heard that if you hang around 5 wealthy people, you will become number 6.

Start or join a mastermind made up of people who have serious ambition. Enjoy some coffee with those studious and ambitious business majors. Attend networking event where big thinkers and movers of industry attend and network with them.

Go and study successful people and see how they think in terms of business. Read their books so you can have their kind of thought and also know how they made it.

  1. Solving Bigger Problems Leads to Massive Success

When you think about solving a problem, think in terms of the World, think about your country, or your industry, or a whole demographic, etc. Solve a big problem and sell your service to people who have that problem.

Then get to work making a business plan and finding investors. Make sure your services are seen as superior and worth the price paid by your customers. If the world or your country thinks your products or services solve their problems, you have succeeded on a big scale.

Let me give you an example, I solve bigger problem for webmasters by delivery more than 100 blog post every month. You could imagine how much I get paid for doing that. But, have it in mind that I don’t do that alone, I have team of writers that help to make that possible.

I solve bigger problems by providing lots of content and in return I achieve massive success in my business.

  1. Believe it is Possible

Some solo entrepreneurs don’t believe they can earn up to a million monthly doing their business. For you to be able to think big and achieve big result, you need to first believe in yourself and in the possibility of your goal.

Believe you can achieve it and carry that believe anywhere you go. I have taken the opportunities that have come my way in order to achieve success. I often step out of my comfort zone, and I never let myself fall into the trap of believing that I might not achieve it.

I am not a psychologist, but I can tell you that chronic self-defeatism is a real problem. If you are going to be successful, you need to train your mind to allow yourself to visualize your success, believe in it, and act upon every opportunity that comes your way!

I am convinced that you can have the best business plans and strategies in the world but if you don’t believe in yourself, then you’ll never apply them. And you’ll never let yourself succeed.

  1. Learn to Delegate

Lastly, to think big as an entrepreneur, delegation is one skill you need to learn. This is the ultimate example of expanding your mindset to think inventively, creatively to create passive income, yet investing little time.

Mastering delegation is one of the key components to growing your business. Effective delegating is all about hiring others to take responsibility for the tasks that aren’t worth your time (e.g. editing photos, coding a website, writing landing pages).

This frees up your valuable time to take on the income-driving tasks like getting more clients, conducting live events, brain-storming on new product ideas.

Making the transition from where you are to where you want to be starts with thinking outside the box, which means thinking big. Remember, the key is to leverage your business so it is not dependent on your daily attention.
